This is the official support page for Atakan Player, a video player for iOS, iPadOS and macOS that plays virtually any file format and offers a full subtitle editor.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open a video?

Tap Open File on the Library screen and pick a video from the Files app, iCloud Drive or any connected storage. You can also open a video from another app via the share sheet, or with Open With → Atakan Player. To play a network stream, choose Open URL and paste an HTTP, HLS (m3u8) or RTSP address.

Which formats are supported?

Playback is powered by libmpv/FFmpeg, so MKV, MP4, AVI, TS, WebM, MOV and more work out of the box, together with H.264, H.265/HEVC, AV1, VP9, MPEG-4, AAC, AC-3, E-AC-3, DTS, FLAC and many other codecs. Very old or rare formats may not be included.

How do I load an external subtitle file?

While a video is playing, open the controls, tap the subtitle button and choose Load subtitle file. SRT, ASS/SSA and WebVTT files are supported, as are subtitle tracks embedded in the video.

The subtitles are too small / out of sync.

Open the subtitle editor from the player controls. You can change font, size, colour, outline, shadow, spacing and position live, or pick one of the ready-made profiles. Subtitle and audio delay can be nudged in 0.1 second steps from the same panel.

Does the app resume where I left off?

Yes. Playback positions are remembered per file and shown as progress bars in the Library. Reopen a video and playback continues automatically; a banner lets you start from the beginning instead.

There is no sound / the video will not open.

Open the Media Info panel (ⓘ) in the player to see the active video and audio codecs. If a file still fails to play, email us the file name and the information shown in that panel and we will look into it.

Does the app collect my data?

No. Atakan Player collects nothing: no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no data leaves your device. See the privacy policy for details.

How do I delete my data?

Everything the app stores stays on your device. Clear your history from Library → Clear, or delete the app to remove all of it.
